We’re shining our employee spotlight on Tani Baker, OHB’s Direct Mail and Database Manager, who has been with us for 17 years.

What do you enjoy most about working at OHB? What keeps you motivated and excited?
Our donors. It is pretty cool to form a bond with someone on the east coast or from Florida that wants to help our kids. It amazes me every day!
Tell us a little about your work here at OHB. What’s a typical day like for you?
There really is not a typical day in my job, and I think that is what I really love about it. My job is donor driven – reaching out to donors via our mail appeals, phone calls and letters. We are always working on creating our next appeal, processing donations, and then sending out thank you letters. I have a great team that I work with, and they are just as passionate about our donors as I am.
What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is the picnic grounds out at Cooper Farm. It is absolutely beautiful out there. Have you seen it?
All about you…
Where did you grow up?
I was born in Bethesda, Maryland on the Naval base. I grew up here in north Omaha once my dad retired from the service.
What is your most treasured memory?
The days my kids and grandkids were born
What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
I really enjoy teaching and training kids in our 4-H dog club. I enjoy hiking, and I love camping and fishing.
If you could…
If you could have lunch with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
My parents because I really miss them.
If you had a year off, with pay, what would you do?
Spend unlimited time with my family and travel.
If you could bring one fictional character to life, who would it be and why?
Mary Poppins, she is always so positive!

Your favorite holiday
Christmas, I love the meaning behind the holiday, and I have so many special memories throughout my lifetime surrounding that holiday.
Your absolute perfect day
Beautiful weather, something fun to do and no where I really have to be.
The thing that always makes you laugh
My family, from my kids, grandkids, to cousins, we always have a great time. Memories are a great way to bring up things to laugh about.
