What do you enjoy most about working at OHB? What keeps you motivated and excited?
I enjoy people and my day is full of conversation and telling our story. I meet many new people each week which is very rewarding but the main motivation for me is hearing and seeing the impact our programs make for the individuals and families.
There are many nonprofits in Omaha. Why do you choose to serve here at OHB?
I have been in the nonprofit sector for 29 years. I worked with the YMCA in Omaha and had experience with OHB. I was drawn here mainly because of the depth of impact the agency makes for those that need us as well as the resources available to do the work.
Of what are you most proud during your time at OHB?
I am most proud of our work to stabilize the financial situation at OHB. We are now within all guidelines for reliance on the endowment. While tough decisions had to be made to get there, this will ensure OHB’s existence for the next 100 years to be there for those that need us.
All about you…
Where did you grow up/where are you from?
I grew up in David City, Nebraska which is 50 miles Northwest of Omaha. I spent 16 year in Dallas, Texas before coming back to Nebraska.
If you were doing karaoke tonight what would you sing? Why?
Jukebox Hero by Foreigner. I just love the story of a young boy watching and dreaming of what he could be and then accomplishing it.
What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
I love to golf and be on/in the lake.
If you could…
If you could have lunch with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
My grandfather who died when I was 16 years old.
If you you had a year off with pay what would you do?
Play golf and travel
If you could master one skill you don’t currently have, what would it be and why?
I would love to be able to sing, just so I can stop embarrassing myself!
