OHB Welcomes New Residential Program Director

Ron Ahrens, who has extensive experience in residential care programming and administration, has joined the Omaha Home for Boys as the new Residential Program Director.

In his new role, Ahrens oversees many of the campus departments, including residential living for youth and house parents, admissions and family services, wellness and recreation, education and food services.

Before arriving at the Home, he spent 15 years at Mooseheart Child City and School, the largest child care agency in the state of Illinois, serving the last 11 as its Director of Residential Living.

Ahrens said he is excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for the Omaha Home for Boys.

“Coming to the Omaha Home for Boys provides an opportunity to help lead a great organization that is continually improving and will continue to improve because they are doing new and exciting things to help children and young adults in Nebraska,” Ahrens said. “The Omaha Home for Boys is important because they are supporting and strengthening youth, young adults, and families through services that inspire and equip them to lead independent and productive lives.”

Before relocating to Illinois, he spent 13 years in various roles at Boys Town – four years as the coordinator of the National Training Center, eight as a family teacher and one as a behavior interventionist.
