From Pasture to Plate

Over the course of two incredible days, our community came together to make something truly special happen.

Volunteers gathered in our OHB dining hall to cook and package 300 pounds of ground beef, all raised right here on our Cooper Memorial Farm. This isn’t just any beef—it’s the result of months of care and hard work by our youth and staff who raise the cattle as part of their hands-on agricultural experience through 4-H.

Once cooked, the beef was carefully portioned, packaged, and distributed to young adults and families across all of OHB’s programs. For many, this became the protein base for a nutritious, homecooked meal—something that many of our young people struggle to afford.

The volunteer project was a wonderful example of the full-circle impact of OHB: from the care put into raising the animals on our farm to the nourishing meals that filled the plates of those we serve. A powerful reminder that when we come together with purpose and compassion, we’re not just feeding bodies, we’re fueling futures.
